Stress comes from life pressures, whether it be from being pushed at work, being stretched by your daily routine, being given too much responsibility, or any other task that puts you under undue pressure. Stress can come from any situation or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, nervous, or even anxious. And of course, what is stressful to one person is not necessarily stressful to another.

Anxiety is stress that continues after that stressor has gone. It is a feeling of apprehension or fear. The source of this uneasiness is not always known or recognized, which can add to the distress you feel. With anxiety, fear often overcomes all emotions, and is accompanied by worry and apprehension. Other symptoms include chest pains, dizziness, and shortness of breath and panic attacks…..

Anxiety can affect anyone and it doesn’t distinguish between age, social group or background. Even some of the most confident people you know may have suffered with anxiety at some time.

How hypnotherapy can help.

Hypnotherapy is a deeply relaxing therapy, which is wonderful for getting rid of stress and anxiety. It is safe, painless and drug-free. You will feel some relief from your first session, and this is built upon in further sessions. Usually a course of treatment takes approximately 5/6 sessions. You will also be given ‘tools’ to help deal with every day stresses and anxieties.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a chronic functional gastrointestinal disorder that affects the nervous system of the gut. Since it is a functional disorder, it is defined not by specific medical tests, but by its symptoms. IBS symptoms include bloating, abdominal pain, and diarrhoea or constipation.

IBS might not be a life-threatening disorder in itself, but it does affect the person’s quality of life. The causes of IBS are unknown. There have been  a number of studies over the past few years that have  shown there may be a genetic factor to developing IBS. However, most researchers believe that  genetics alone is not enough to cause the disorder. It is believed that there must be a secondary cause to trigger the IBS. For example research has shown an association between previous gastrointestinal infections and IBS. Because the brain communicates with the intestines, there is widespread acceptance that psychological factors, such as emotions and stress can contribute to flare-ups of bowel disorders.

Conventional medicine alone has not been able to adequately alleviate IBS symptoms. However, hypnotherapy in conjunction with traditional treatments has produced amazing results in alleviation of IBS symptoms. Hypnotherapy is not considered a "cure" for Irritable Bowel Syndrome, but it is an effective method for symptom relief.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recognises hypnotherapy as a treatment that is effective for IBS control.

An article produced by IFFGD (International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders) it states “Hypnosis has been shown to be an effective treatment for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in a number of clinical studies.

Treatment

Hypnotherapy is a safe and gentle treatment which is highly successful in alleviating the symptoms of IBS. Sessions are taken every 2 weeks and you should expect anything from 6-12 sessions depending on the severity of your condition.

I use gut directed therapy and provide recordings which are listened to between sessions. This treatment plan has very good results and should alleviate most of your symptoms.
